Shavuos 5786 / 2026

שבועות תשפ”ו

An Eruv Tavshilin (עירוב תבשילין) should be made on Thursday.

  • Although one may not prepare from one day of Yom Tov for the next day, by reciting the blessing below, one may prepare on a Yom Tov for the adajacent Shabbos.
  • An Eruv Tavshilin is made anytime on the eve of the Chag by taking two items, for example a Challah or Matzah together with a hard-boiled egg or a piece of fish and reciting the blessing in Hebrew or English and then the final paragraph.

  • Baruch Ato Ado’noi Elo’haynu Melech Ha’olom Asher Kid’sha’nu Bi’mitz’vo’tav Vi’tzee’va’nu Al Mitz’vas Eruv.

or in English (Blessed are you, Hashem, our G-d, King of the universe, Who has sanctified us with His commandments and has commanded us regarding the mitzvah of Eruv.)
Through this Eruv may we be permitted to bake, cook, insulate, light a flame, prepare, and do anything necessary on the Yom Tov in preparation of the Shabbos.
